About
Erica Baguley
Erica’s story began in a small town in rural southeastern Idaho. From the time she was young she differed from the other little girls in her school. Her gift for drawing and coloring lead her to take it upon herself to learn, on her own, how to master the art of drawing anime characters. She spent the majority of her summers tucked away on the computer studying how to perfect her hand to eye coordination to master the art of drawing her subjects. Despite the support of her parents, but without sufficient art educational opportunities available within the local community, her dreams of mastering her technique began to fizzle out as she became a teenager.
However, in high school she took as many art classes as the school would allow. She even took some art classes twice until the school shut her down. There simply wasn’t enough offered to satisfy her eager creative heart. Never being very drawn to “school spirit” the most she ever got involved in school was her art club nomination for homecoming queen, where she represented the school as second attendant.
After her teen years she studied at the local university where she took college level art classes and learned a great deal, but still her cravings were left unsatisfied.
Erica’s Art
The only spirituality she knew growing up were the very strict teachings of the Mormon religion, which she left at an early age, leaving her with little to no spiritual influence throughout her life. While in college she received a bit of insight from taking yoga classes. She learned about the chakras and how to harness their energy. All this time she never knew what was blossoming inside her just under the surface
Through many miraculous acts and events through divine timing, she finally found her calling. In her early twenties she started channeling what later she realized to be the “collective consciousness .“ She was introduced to visionary art at an art show where she encountered a book from the ever famous works of Alex Grey.
Over time she had the blessing of reuniting with her birth mother. Adopted at birth she knew little to nothing about her biological mother other than she was from Portland, Oregon. This drew her to the city at a very young age, and she discovered it was an artist’s haven. She decided to take the leap and move to Portland in 2016 to be closer to her biological family and with the hope to find the further support she needed on her artistic journey.
In 2017 she took her first real painting class with the master Amanda Sage. She learned a very ancient technique which she applied to all her future paintings and still does to this day. She knew that she was meant to be a live painter and longed for the opportunity. With support from her new community and sheer will, she achieved this dream. She began painting regularly with productions hosted by Rose Entertainment. She accomplished more than she could have imagined in a few short years.
She still resides in Portland and has steadily grown in her craft, applying all that she has learned even from those days as an adolescent trying to teach herself to draw. Taking more classes from masters including the great Micheal Fuchs, now she gives back with her gift as she teaches others the joy of painting. Her story is one of self realization and action: Never give up on your dreams and believe in yourself no matter where you come from.
